Annual Golf Tournament

2009 Golf Supporters.pdf

Princeton Community Hospital Foundation’s 7th Annual Golf Tournament was held at Fountain Springs Golf Course in Peterstown, WV August 14, 2009 with 140 players filling the course. Thanks to the support of the volunteers, sponsors and participants, over $52,700 net was raised. Proceeds from the golf tournament will support charity care at Princeton Community Hospital. It will allow Princeton Community Hospital to continue to provide medically necessary health services to individuals who cannot afford to pay for such services and to provide immediate assistance to patients and their families.

Because we are a nonprofit hospital and provide the care, you need, when you need it, no one is turned away because of his or her inability to pay. In fiscal year 2008, Princeton Community Hospital provided more than $7 million in charity care for patients who had no insurance. Additionally, the hospital covered $5.5 million in services for which payment was expected but not received.

“The $52,700 net that was raised for charity care for the community would not have been possible without the support of our volunteers, sponsors, and participants. The intent is for participants to have a fun, enjoyable day while making a difference in the health of our community,” says Robert Farley, of Princeton-Mercer County Chamber of Commerce and Chair for the event. Other committee members included Bill Draper (retired), Bill Hopkins (First Community Bank, N.A), Lynne Krulich (Princeton Health and Fitness Center), Rick Lowry (Murphy Insurance Agency), Charlie Pace (Charles W. Pace, Attorney at Law), Larry Ratliff (BB&T Branch Banking and Trust), Roger Topping (Princeton Health Care Center), and Richard Zborowski (Princeton Community Hospital).

Celebrate A Day in a Woman’s Life

Princeton Community Hospital Foundation hosted a spring event June 6, 2009 at the Chuck Mathena Center to Celebrate A Day in a Woman’s Life. Through the support of over 150 women that attended and the sponsors, over $19,000 gross was raised. Proceeds purchased equipment to enhance care in the Women’s Center at Princeton Community Hospital. The Women’s Center is a key provider of women and children’s services for Southern West Virginia.

Women gathered information on a variety of ways to make their lives easier. At the same time, the women celebrated 20 years of the Foundation collaborating with the community in providing Princeton Community Hospital with high quality cost effective health care.

Alicia Suka, news anchor, and Cindy Boggs, author and fitness expert, inspired the women. Alicia Suka encouraged the women to take time for themselves and gave personal stories that were motivating and energizing. Cindy Boggs informed the women that “You Can Find Health in Your Hectic World”. She cut through the confusion and offered solutions and strategies to overcome everyday health and fitness obstacles.

Planning committee members were Sharon Boggess (HealthSouth Southern Hills Rehabilitation Hospital), Sandy Counts (Princeton Community Hospital), Jackie Evans (Princeton Community Hospital Volunteers), Beth Farley, Dr. Ashley Fritzius (Mercer Medical Group), Gail Griffith (Retired), Kathy Kirk (Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home), Dr. Tara Mitchell (Mercer Medical Group), Sommer Mullins (C.A.S.E. West Virginia), Connie Pace, Melissa Powell (Hospice Compassus), Cheryl Sinicrope, Santina St. John (Concord University), Dr. Lori Tucker (Dr. Lori Tucker, LLC), Shirley Vinciguerra, Patricia Whittaker (Adventure Radio), and Brenda Woodward (Princeton Health & Fitness Center)

Princeton Community Hospital Foundation’s Lights of Love is a unique and meaningful way to say that you care and at the same time support quality health care available through Princeton Community Hospital. A donation places a light in honor or remembrance of loved ones on Princeton Community Hospital’s Lights of Love Tree.

Each gift to Lights of Love helps Princeton Community Hospital maintain the high standards of medical treatment and care so essential to the well-being of our community.  Donations are used to improve and expand our hospital’s equipment, facilities and services.

The 2008 Lights of Love Tree was dedicated in a brief ceremony on December 11, 2008 at Princeton Community Hospital. There was entertainment and the ceremony followed by refreshments in the hospital’s main lobby, where the names of those honored on the tree were displayed.
