Pulmonary Rehabilitation
at Princeton Community Hospital
If you suffer from chronic bronchitis, asthma or emphysema, you know how the illness affects your breathing...and your life.

If you'd like to feel better and do more, PCH's Pulmonary Rehab Program may be right for you.

The Pulmonary Rehab Program is designed to help you gain control over your symptoms and reduce the level of disability caused by your illness. It's open to anyone with a respiratory illness, especially chronic bronchitis, asthma and emphysema.

The program brings together the expertise of physicians, respiratory care practitioners, physical therapists, occupational therapists, licensed clinical social workers and nutritionists who work under the direction of a board-certified pulmonologist. These professionals will conduct a comprehensive assessment to develop an individualized treatment plan tailored to your specific needs. Patients in the program attend a course of rehabilitative treatment for three to four hours, three times a week for about six to eight weeks. The treatment combines exercise conditioning, endurance training, rehabilitation, education and psychosocial support to improve the patient's overall functioning.

The program will...

• Improve your understanding of lung disease.

• Evaluate your health status and develop a preventive self-care regimen.

• Work with your physician's treatment to
control and alleviate your symptoms as
much as possible.

• Help you carry out the activities of daily
living as fully as possible.

• Help you function more independently
and improve your quality of life.
