| The Princeton Community Hospital Foundation was incorporated in 1993 as a not-for-profit charitable organization to promote wellness and healthcare in the community by raising funds to support projects that carry out the hospital's mission. The Princeton Health and Fitness Center and the PCH Hospitality House are among its first completed projects. Why is a foundation needed? The decline in government funding for the Medicare and Medicaid programs combined with the increasing costs of advanced technology and labor have placed a tremendous financial burden on hospitals across the nation. For example, PCH absorbs almost half of its patient charges to make up for shortfalls in government funding and patients who cannot pay. As a public, not-for-profit hospital, PCH invests all of its earnings back into the hospital for the improvement of facilities, equipment and services for patients. The PCH Foundation supports the hospital by raising the funds needed for important special projects that might not otherwise be possible. Are donations tax deductible? Yes. PCH and the PCH Foundation, Inc., are both designated by the IRS as 501 (c) (3) not-for-profit corporations. Most donations are deductible from federal income tax to the extent provided by law. How are donations spent? Unless they are restricted by the donor, all donations will be invested in or used to directly support the hospital in program development, building projects and purchase of equipment. Donations are not used to pay for salaries or other operational expenses. May gifts be restricted to certain projects? Yes. Gifts may be designated by the donor for use toward a specific service, department, equipment purchase or other project. Unrestricted gifts allow the donation to be used where the need is greatest. Does the foundation accept gifts other than cash? Yes. Donations may be made in many forms. For a variety of reasons best determined by you and your financial advisor, you may prefer to give securities, life insurance or other possessions. Gifts-in-kind are also appreciated. How are donations recognized? All gifts are promptly acknowledged. Those who contribute $100 or more annually are considered members of the PCH Foundation's Cornerstone Club and receive a walnut plaque in appreciation of their gifts. Those who contribute $10,000 or more are recognized as part of the L. J. Pace, M.D., Fellowship and are invited to attend a special event in their honor. Those who contribute through planned gifts are recognized as part of the Heritage Circle of the PCH Foundation. Companies that donate at certain levels are considered members of the Corporate Honor Roll. Members of all these groups are acknowledged on the Wall of Honor in the PCH lobby, unless anonymity is requested. For more information, please contact the PCH Foundation. PCH Foundation, Inc. P.O.
